Mustafizur likely to become new Icon player of BPL

As the governing council of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) hinted that there will be one more team added in the fifth season of the tournament this year, it means another Icon would have to be added in the existing list.

But who will be the new Icon player? If the latest production from the rumor mills are anything to go by, probably the pace bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman will complete the list given his name, fame and performance.

Mustafizur played for Dhaka Dynamites in 2015, and he was retained for the last season as well, but he missed the whole tournament in the last year due to his injury.

The governing council was initially considering Imrul Kayes as the Icon also in the upcoming edition, but that didn’t go well with Comilla Victorians who wants to retain Liton Das, Saifuddin and Kayes – as per the rule of holding onto four cricketers from past.

The players’ draft of the BPL is set to be held in September with the tournament proper starting on November 4. Prior to that, a colorful inaugural ceremony is expected to be held on November 2.
