-- NEW -- Saeed Ajmal likely not to play the BPL
Hours after having picked up by Barisal Burners at price $115,000 – the fourth highest bid of a Pakistan player, the off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has decided not to play the second edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The BPL-2 starts from January 18 and Pakistan’s Test team is set to leave for South Africa on January 22. Instead of making a whistle-stop-tour to Bangladesh for one-off or couple of matches, Ajmal has decided to concentrate on his national commitments as a Test player.
It is to be remembered that at the moment Ajmal is also contracted with the Adelaide Strikes for Australia’s T20 Big Bash League (BBL). Though they had signed him to play only one group match which he played on December 9, according to the contract, if the Strikers need him, he will be called again to play the Semi Final and Final – scheduled between January 15 and 19 – of BBL.
It is also reported that most of the Pakistan players, who are part of the Test plans, will not go to Bangladesh for the BPL. However, most of the players picked by BPL franchises are those who doen’t play Test cricket, such as Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Malik etc.
