Mushfiqur Rahim calls this T20 team as beggars.
It is being reported for quite a time now, that all is not well between Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and the BPL team Barisal Bulls co-owner Abdul Awal Chowdhury. The controversy seems to have no end as recently Chowdhury has been given a show-cause notice after he had termed Mushfiqur an irresponsible cricketer and a bad captain in an interview to a private TV channel in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batsman is in talks with the Rajshahi Kings for the upcoming BPL 5. Rahim led the Bulls in the last season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Chowdhury was pretty adamant with his comments on the skipper Rahim as he was not very pleased with Rahim’s harsh words for the Barisal Bulls franchise. The co-owner claimed that Mushfiqur called the franchise “fokirni” (which means beggars in English) in one of the Barisal’s official photo sessions, where the senior officials of the franchise were also present.
Hurt by the comments
“As the owner of the franchise, I didn’t like what he had to say. That’s the sole reason why I called him irresponsible in that interview. I said that not as a director of BCB, but as a franchise owner. I have invested crores of money for the franchise, so I think I have the rights to say so,” Chowdhury added.
Meanwhile, BPL Governing Council’s member Sheikh Sohail denied Chowdhury’s claim, saying they never got any accusation against Mushfiqur in this matter.
BPL 5
The fifth season of the much awaited domestic Twenty20 league is still five months away. The franchises have already started to regroup and reshape their teams and strategies for the all-important tournament. Many big names of Bangladesh cricket are in talks to switch their teams for the upcoming season. While the BCB has made it clear that the A-list players will have the option of picking the team they want to feature for.
