The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that players selected for the series against England and those named for the Pentagular Cup will not be granted Non-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for participation in Bangladesh Premier League T20.

A row has been going on for the past few days as several players want to be part of the lucrative league which has been designed on the format of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, the board has stood firm on the matter and now has issued emails to the players stating its policy. ‘The News’ has got a copy of the email. It states that NOCs can be issued to players other than those selected for the Tests against England, those under consideration for One-day Internationals and T20 against England (names given by the Selection Committee) and those selected for the Pentangular Cup to be played from Jan 19 to Feb 22.

This has not gone down well with BPL hopefuls, who feel they have been deprived of their right to earn well through their profession. The players requested PCB to allow them to appear in BPL, promising that they would take part in last two matches of the Pentangular Cup, but their plea has been dismissed.

It has also been learnt that PCB’s Director Domestic Cricket Zakir Khan told hopefuls they can only appear in the T20 league if they write to the board that they no longer want to play for Pakistan and in Pakistan.

This statement came as a shock to those who seek to stage an international comeback or to play international cricket besides featuring in the BPL. PCB has been in constant touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in order for international cricket to return to the country. The board wants BCB to send its team to Pakistan.

A senior board official said the BPL NOC matter was unlikely to affect the relations between the two boards. He said the relations would not be affected by the blocking of players because one of Pakistan’s domestic cricket tournaments is round the corner and the board wants to keep the best players in the country for a healthy contest. This is likely to be understood by the BCB so there is no fuss about it, he said.

“BCB wants to improve its own domestic event and PCB wants to make its event better so it’s not a fight. I think BCB will not mind this thing as PCB is already planning to sacrifice International Cricket Council’s presidency and the sacrifice does not get bigger than that.”

Choose country over cash, PCB tells players Empty BPL or Pakistan

Post  SaqibNS Sat Jan 14, 2012 5:20 am

Pakistan England Series is important. So Pakistan should not send there major players to BPL or even for any other league. Then comes Pakistan's domestic tournament .Yes obviuosly how a coutry want that their players play abroad in leagues when a domestic competition is going in their own country. Bcz if a player wants to get a place in national team he should perform in domestic cricket rather than t20 leagues.
Now PCB has to decide and I think they will decide which they think better. Cool

Bt I will say instead Best of luck BPL.
Very Happy
