Cooper says he won’t be intimidated by BPL stint 20120207kevoncooper

Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder Kevon Cooper says he will not be overawed when he campaigns in the Bangladesh Premier League later this month.

The 23-year-old will turn out in the Twenty20 league for Chittagong Kings after signing a US$25 000 deal, and will rub shoulders with the likes of Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, South African Herschelle Gibbs and Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya.

“I am going to forget all the big names and just put my best foot forward and deal with playing cricket the way I know,”

“I am not going to be intimidated in any way while coming up against the big players in world cricket. I have had a taste of playing amongst the best at the Champions League and this not going to be any different.”

Cooper has largely been a T20 specialist for Trinidad and Tobago, playing 21 matches and performing a key role in the national team’s success in the Caribbean T20.
He got six wickets in the last CT20 but more importantly, had an economy rate of 5.06 runs per over.

Cooper, who is yet to play international cricket, said it was a privilege to be lining up alongside world stars, however.
“I am really looking forward to meeting with Muttiah Muralitharan who will also be playing for Chittagong,” said Cooper, who will also play alongside fellow West Indians Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Bravo and Jerome Taylor.

“It is a real pleasure to be playing cricket on the foreign circuit and with such big name players. I would just like to go out there and prove that I belong on that stage.

“Having people like Murali, Dwayne Bravo, Lendl Simmons and Jerome Taylor at Chittagong will only serve to assist in my development and I am so looking forward to being there.”
The BPL bowls off on Friday.
