Plenty of foreign cricketers will ignite Dhaka over the coming two months as Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League and money-spinning Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) begin in a space of a month.

The premier division cricket league which will get underway on Thursday will see a good number of foreign cricketers albeit a few would have name and fame. There was possibility to see famed cricketers like Brian Lara, Chris Gayle and Younis Khan in the Dhaka cricket league but their presence is yet to be certain.

Premier league however might not confirm famed cricketer but it is certain that the people of Bangladesh will see a galaxy of stars during BPL.

The Game On Sports management had already confirmed 45 foreign cricketers. Of them the most notable were James Anderson, Matt Prior, Keiron Pollard, Dwine Bravo, Harchell Gibbs, Imran Nazir, Jihan Mubarak, Kapugedara, Mohammad Sami, Danish Kaneria, Naved-ul-Hasan, Suleman Benn, Andre Hall, Neil O’Brein and others.

They management has been in series of discussion with star players like Adam Gilchrist, Shane Wanre, Muttiah Muralidaran, Sanath Jayasuirya, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and expected to sign contract with them in the coming days.

The Game On Management however eye to gain a huge profit by the tournament as they bought the rights for the coming six years with a staggering amount of Tk. 350 crore. They have already given BCB a guarantee money of Tk. 70 crore for the two years.

The guarantee of the profit will rely on how many stars they could bring up in the BPL as they will receive a certain amount from the players’ auction. In addition, they will earn by selling the six franchises.

Therefore the popularity and the star’s stardom could ensure their profit.
When the BPL promised to bring up famed cricketers, needless to say, less famed cricketers will play in the Dhaka cricket league.

Victoria which formed a formidable team with recruiting country’s top cricket Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal planned to bring up Lara as coach cum player.
They also eyed to recruit Chris Gayle as player in the team. A club source ensured that Gayle could join the team after the Australian domestic Twenty20 Big Bash. If the likes of Lara, Gayle Younis turn up in Dhaka league, that would add value in domestic cricket.

Victoria however already roped in Pakistan star Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz and India’s Monaj Tiwari. Though almost all teams in the Dhaka league finalised talks to Pakistan’s national players, they will not turn up due to their national commitment.

Abahani has already confirmed Rajat Bhatia and Mithun Manhas, the player of Mumbai Indians while they also will bring up Somarset seaming all-rounder Peter Trego who also will play in BPL.

As a replacement of Pakistan star players, the clubs however are prone to their first class cricketer that effectively will diminish the colour of Dhaka league.
