Bangladesh Premier League franchise Sylhet Royals have paid their dues to Bangladesh Cricket Board to clear their way before the third stage of BPL that is going to take place from November. The transaction has been completed yesterday evening, sources confirmed.

Sylhet Royals is the second franchise to pay off the arrears after Rangpur Riders. Chairman of Sylhet Royals Ms Nafisa Kamal said, “We had a due of 6 crores and 96 lac taka to BCB from the previous two stages of BPL. We have cleared the total amount yesterday and now there is no obstacle in front of us to participate in the third stage of the tournament.”

Earlier BCB President Mr. Nazmul Hasan Papon gestured that the actual amount was more than 8 crores taka; the authorities of Sylhet Royals were able to show the documents of players’ payment properly which enable them to minimize the amount of dues up to 6 crores and 96 lac taka.

However Mr. Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of BCB noted that this opportunity goes to every franchise who will be able to show the proper documents of payment to the players.

Ms Nafisa Kamal intended about the possibility of taking a new franchise, “We haven’t decided whether we will keep continue with Sylhet Royals or not. This time me and my sister Kashfia Kamal will jointly run the team and take proper steps so that we could correct our past mistakes.”
