When the players’ remained apprehensive over the payment issue in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the authority ensured them not to be scared. The BPL will follow the international standard over the payment issue of the players, said the BPL member secretary Sirajuddin Alamgir.

“We can ensure the cricketers not to be scared over the payment issue. We’ll follow the international standard and rules to erase any sort of apprehension,” Alamgir said.

“Once the players’ auction will be held, the players’ will get the 25 percent of their total money. During the tournament, they will get 50 percent and the franchise will have to pay the rest of the 25 percent within 45 days after the completion of the tournament,” he added.

“The same rules will be applicable for both local and foreign players.”

Game Sports Management Director Anjan Ganguly also claimed that there is no scope to harass the players’ over the payment issue.

“BCB would have to accommodate the bank guarantee money even before the players’ auction. If any players’ don’t get the payment in due time, they would be paid from this guarantee money.”

Apart from the star players or known faces, other players were often harassed over the payment issue in domestic league or any special league organised by BCB or other companies. Therefore they had the valid point to be apprehensive.

BPL governing body will take decision over the icon players’ payment issue. Since the franchises are reluctant to pay the icon players’ five percent more than the foreign players whose base price was higher than the local players’, the BCB had to face a niggling situation over the issue.

The franchises however provided BPL about the proposed name of their teams. Dhaka proposed their name as Dhaka Gladiators, Chittagong as Chittagong Tigers, Rajshahi as Duronto Rajshahi, Khulna as Khulna Royal Bengal and Sylhet as Walton Fighter Sylhet.

Meanwhile, ‘Cyrus Madan FM Australia”, a foreign company will conduct the ceremony of the players’ auction that will be taken place on January 19 at a local hotel in a city. In this connection BPL and Game On signed an agreement with them.

In another development, it is known that the BCCI did not permit any Indian players to take part in BPL.
